It decides to Look Back only to 1990, ignoring 45 years of infectious Hepatitis B and C healthcare. It even recommends finding just 3000 patients as a target. It provides quite astonishingly a list of reasons not to warn patients they may have been put at risk. It of course recommends absolute confidentiality from all involved. It also explains that consultants can absolve themselves of the responsibility to test and even withhold positive diagnosis from patients.
It then proceeds to completely blur the known fact that the Hepatitis C national prevalence is known to be 1% and substitutes a bizarre 0.1-0.9% total population prevalence or between 50,000 and 500,000 are infected, instaed of acknowledging that 500,000 people are out there mainly NHS infected and in dire need of speedy mass testing and diagnosis.
This invention has "lost" most of the patients to testing ever since. Tragically the person who is writing such lies is the Chief Medical Officer of the entire National Health Service. Dr Calman.
This farce has led to the poorest Hepatitis B and C testing in the developed world and has been followed up with a focused campaign to pretend there are hardly any NHS contaminated blood infection or overseas contaminated blood infections in the UK.
